Raiders’ Unhappy Cheerleaders

As if the NFL’s Oakland Raiders needed something else to go wrong with their season, it’s now got a lawsuit on its hands, filed by current and former Raiders cheerleaders.

Some former Oakland Raiders cheerleaders are none too happy with the team and are suing it claiming unfair employment practices.

The Raiderettes accuse the team of wage theft and other unfair employment practices.

Among them are that the team withholds all pay to the cheerleaders until the end of the season, does not pay for all hours worked and forces cheerleaders to pay many of their own business expenses.

According to the filing, Raiders cheerleaders are paid $1,250 per season, which amounts to about $5 per hour when they factor in the time spent rehearsing, performing and appearing at events for which they are not compensated.

The team had no comment on the lawsuit.
