Rolling Stone Lauds Peter Noble

Bluestfest festival founder Peter Noble was lauded for his 50-year career at the fifth Rolling Stone Australia awards in Sydney.
With his Rolling Stone award.

The one-time musician moved to the United States where he set up the International Jazz Festival at Portland, Ore.

Returning to Australia, he managed acts, toured blues acts and set up AIM Records to release hard-to-find blues recordings.

Bluesfest, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year in April, attracts between 90,000 to 110,000 each year at its own 120-hectare site outside Byron Bay.

Noble debuted October’s indigenous Boomerang festival last year and also runs the Singapore Rock & Roots Festival in March.

Bluesfest also took second place at the Feb. 7 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Sydney in the major festival and events category.

It was beaten by the internationally famous Melbourne Cup carnival.

“To be awarded silver against the event that stops the nation is a fantastic result!” was the comment from Bluesfest.

The new Deni Blues & Roots festival, put on by Chugg Entertainment and Rob Potts Entertainment Edge, also took silver in the festival and events category.
