Morrissey Announces U.S. Tour
The publication of Moz’s long-awaited autobiography was seemingly the only bright spot in the British singer/songwriter’s 2013. His tour schedule was destroyed by one illness after another including double pneumonia, a bleeding ulcer and a gastrointestinal condition known as Barrett’s esophagus. And then there was food poisoning during his trip to South America followed by Morrissey calling off the rest of the outing because of a “lack of funding.” To cap off his unlucky year, in November fan site True To You reported he had recently been discharged from the hospital after suffering a “concussion, whiplash and an arm injury.”
But 2014 is going to be different! Well, fingers crossed! Things had already started looking up for the former Smiths frontman in January when he announced he had finally signed a record deal. A post on Morrissey’s Facebook page says he planned to record a new album in France starting on Feb. 1 for his two-album deal with Capitol Records.
The 2014 tour begins May 7 in San Jose. Tom Jones will join Morrissey in Los Angeles on the next stop at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena May 10. The trek wraps up with a May 21 show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., featuring special guest Cliff Richard. Kristeen Young also appears May 10 and May 21.
