“He was my level-headed brother, a solid performer and talented audio engineer, always giving more than he got,” his brother, Gerald wrote on Devo’s Facebook page. “His sudden death from conditions that lead to heart failure came as a total shock to us all.”

Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh, Bob (known as Bob 2) and Gerald Casale formed Devo in 1972 and went on to produce hits such as “Whip It,” “Peek-a-Boo!,” “Freedom of Choice” and many others, which got heavy airplay during the early days of MTV.

The band has been actively touring and performed as recently as last May.
