Chugg Celebrates 50, Launches Label

Sydney-based promoter and artist manager Michael Chugg celebrates his 50th year in the business at South By Southwest with a 50th-anniversary bash March 13. The event also serves as a showcase for his label, Chugg Music, which launches in North America Feb. 25.

Releases will be distributed by California-based Super D / Alliance and Sydney-based MGM Distribution.

The first release is an EP by Sydney band Lime Cordiale  which has relocated to Los Angeles to work the release. Lime Cordiale signed to The Agency Group in Los Angeles, with Val Wolfe and Crystal Moore as representing agents.

The act will play the Chugg Music showcase.

“We have built a strong team of US industry members for Lime Cordiale’s release who will no doubt contribute to the band’s growth in America and Canada in the future,” Chugg said. “Along with our own office in Toronto, and my business partner Matthew Lazarus-Hall based in LA, everyone is excited to be working with Lime Cordiale who are fast gaining a considerable live following in Australia.”

Another Chugg-managed act, The Griswolds, are also showcasing at SxSW. They are signed to NYC-based Wind-Up Records.
