Soundwave’s Shakeout

The hard rock Soundwave touring festival faced problems before it began, with Megadeth, Newsted, Stone Temple Pilots, Sevendust, Hardcore Superstar, Whitechapel, and Desaparecidos dropping off the bill.

No sooner had the wagon train started to roll than promoter AJ Maddah sacked Sydney band Thy Art Is Murder for encouraging the audience to rush the stage and posing a threat to the other bands’ equipment.

Ivan Moody, singer of Las Vegas metal outfit Five Finger Death Punch was arrested for being drunk on a Qantas flight, assaulting an attendant and trying to sneak into First Class.

GWAR lit up talk-back radio switchboards when it beheaded an effigy of Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Finland’s HM had a black bag of “irreplaceable items” stolen from the backstage area of a club show but got it back after posting a photo of the alleged thief from surveillance tapes.

The show has plenty of attractions left, including Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Alice In Chains and Rob Zombie.
