Asia’s Next Superstar

Jordan Kensington, CEO of London-based Invincible Media that is responsible for the National Reality Television Awards, Urban Music Awards, British Music Week and the International Football Awards, told the Korean pop culture website KpopStarz that he plans to produce a show called “Asia’s Next Superstar.”

Kensington will stage individual performance competitions starting in June in South Korea, China, Japan, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. In the end, one contestant from each country will compete with one another in London for the title of Asia’s Next Superstar. Applications will be accepted starting this week.

The winner will have Invincible’s management expertise at his or her disposal, including recording contracts and opportunities to perform at the 12th Annual Urban Music Awards and the 2014 International K-Pop Awards.

Kensington insists that the resulting album will be released internationally, including in the U.S., and will probably include a collaboration with a major American or UK artist. In addition, “Asia’s Next Superstar” will be broadcast via Sky Channel in 15 European countries.

“What we want to do is show a side of Asia’s talent that is not what we’ve seen before,” Kensington told KpopStarz. “From indie bands in Indonesia to heavy metal in Japan, there’s so many things happening in Asian music.”
