MAMA Swats The Fly
A downturn in the publishing business is being given as MAMA Group’s reason for shutting down The Fly, the free-issue music mag it’s run for the last 15 years.
The Fly had previously been available at UK record shops and venues.
It once had a circulation of more than 100,000.
At that time it was the UK’s biggest free music paper, having started from being a listings sheet in Camden, north London, in 1999.
It soon went national: Largely down to free distribution, it overtook Q, Mojo and NME to become the UK’s biggest music mag.
