Industry Noize: Ellinghaus Gets First Primavera Award

City Slang founder Christof Ellinghaus will be presented the first Primavera Award, a prize that Spain’s Primavera Festival and PrimaveraPro conference will hand out on an annual basis.

The citation says Ellinghaus, who has been instrumental in the careers of such acts as Arcade Fire, The Flaming Lips, Broken Social Scene, Tindersticks, and Hole, got the nod because of his “exceptional contribution to the development and enrichment of the musical community.”

“Some of the most outstanding records of recent decades have been released in Europe and it has been possible to see these essential bands from the American panorama live,” it said.

This year’s PrimaveraPro will focus on talent from Brazil, Chile, Israel, Poland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Baltic states and the Spanish city of Valencia.

The Primavera Sound Festival (May 28-31), which is held in Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum leisure site and runs in parallel with the PrimaveraPro showcase conference, features Arcade Fire and The Pixies.
