Industry Noize: Nassau Considers Concert Consultants
The consultants, who would take over duties previously handled by several Parks Department employees, would provide services “essential for the coordination of events, which ranges from coordinating talent, assisting with the production and providing sound expertise needed for shows,” Parks Commissioner Brian Nugent told Newsday.
The county issued a request for proposals for consultants after one parks employee retired and contracts weren’t renewed for two other part-time positions.
Some officials seem troubled by the news. Minority leader Kevan Abrahams questioned where the money would come from for consultants when the county is struggling to pay police overtime and property tax refunds, but Nugent told the paper money would be saved on advertising as well as the cost of salaries and benefits for employees.
Specific duties outlined in the RFP include a technical director, stage manager, production manager and media broker, Newsday reported.
