Koopmans Hits Conference Circuit
FKP chief Folkert Koopmans, who was a keynote speaker at Eurosonic Noorderslag in 2013 and also spoke at his local Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, tells Pollstar that Sweden is one of the few countries not to stage such an event.
A press conference was scheduled in Norkopping for April 24, when full details of the new event are expected to be announced.
“We’re speaking to 18 venues in Norrköping and we can use several that are within walking distance of each other, just as Reeperbahn does in Hamburg and Eurosonic does in Groningen,” he explained.
FKP’s also shaping up for a good year on the outdoor festival front as its 73,000-capacity Hurricane and 60,000-capacity Southside – its major twinned German festivals – have already sold out with a couple of months to spare.
Koopmans believes Bravalla, which debuted last year and became Sweden’s biggest festival with a 52,000-capacity sellout, will be next to sell out.
Northside Festival in Denmark, which FKP started in 2010 and has grown to 30,000 capacity, and Switzerland’s Greenfield Festival – a 27,000-capacity started in 2005 – are also on course to sell out in advance.
