Queensryche Settled

There have been two touring acts named Queensryche. One is fronted by the 30-year singer of the band, Geoff Tate, and the other by the rest of the band, fronted by a new singer.

Each has been staunch in its belief that it owns the rights to the name. That appears to be resolved.

“We wanted to let Queensryche fans around the world know that an amicable settlement has been reached between Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield, Michael Wilton and Geoff Tate with regard to the future of the Queensryche name,” the members said in a joint statement. “According to the agreement, [the three original members] will now be the sole entity recording and touring as Queensryche.”

Tate will have exclusive rights to perform the band’s Operation: Mindcrime I and II in their entirety as a unique performance. He will perform shows already booked or solicited as Queensryche, and then will perform as Geoff Tate, according to a spokesman, although it is appears the stage name is still being hashed out.

Tate and the band had a falling out in Brazil a few years ago, which led to a split and court filings over the use of the name.

The entity now known as Queensryche gave Pollstar its side of the story in 2012.
