New Festival Donating Profits To Autism NZ

The inaugural Rosebrook Music Festival in January is donating all profits to Autism New Zealand, organiser Greg Hussey said.

It will also actively work to raise awareness of the challenges Autism sufferers face. The festival is staged Jan. 31 by musicians from South Canterbury to showcase local acts.

“We were always giving our profits away to a charity,” Hussey explained.

Composer Jack Body Diagnosed With Cancer

Internationally recognised New Zealand composer and academic Jack Body was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.

Among international achievements by the 69-year-old were three works for the Kronos Quartet and in 2003 being a featured composer at the Other Minds Festival in San Francisco.

His work with New Zealand orchestras, festivals and theatre productions, highly inspired by the cultures of Asia, got him an Order of Merit medal from the New Zealand Government in 1999.

In 2004 he was honored by the Arts Foundation of NZ as a laureate.
