Lil Boosie Won't Perform In Gulfport

Rapper Lil’ Boosie has been denied a noise variance permit to put on a concert in Gulfport.

Concert promoters wanted to hold the event at Amos Croutch Sr. Ball Field, a neighborhood park in North Gulfport. Promoters told The Sun Herald will ask the city council to overrule the decision.

Promoters said since his release from prison, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, rapper has entertained in Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas. They are frustrated with Mississippi.

“Mississippi is the only place he hasn’t been able to play,” said Walter Malone of Gautier, owner of Magnolia Vivid Productions, the company trying to produce the show.

Councilwoman Ella Holmes-Hines, who represents the area where the park is located, said city officials found out about the concert through a blog on May 13, the same day Malone and promoter Keith Brown filed for the noise variance.

The rapper, whose real name is Torence Hatch, was released from Angola prison in Louisiana in March after being sentenced to eight years on drug charges. He remains on supervised parole until 2018.
