Concerns Still For Kasem
Superior Court Judge Daniel Murphy removed medical power of attorney from Kasem’s wife, Jean, ordered her to comply with court orders to allow an independent medical evaluation, ordered the surrender of Kasem’s passport, and said Kasem’s daughter must be allowed to visit him.
The May 21 orders came during the second hearing in which lawyers for Jean Kasem said they couldn’t disclose where Casey Kasem was located.
Kasem was found May 15 in a medical facility in Washington and Murphy ordered him not to be moved until he received a medical evaluation. Murphy expressed frustration with Jean Kasem’s attorneys during the hearing over the lack of information about Kasem’s condition and whereabouts.
An attorney and doctor the judge appointed to evaluate Casey Kasem have reportedly had issues contacting him and his wife.
“I’m not sure she’s even complying with my order,” Murphy said. But Jean Kasem’s attorney responded that a sheriff’s spokesman in Kitsap County in Washington said Kasem appeared to be receiving good medical care.
An attorney for Kasem’s daughter argued the family wouldn’t be certain until the doctor evaluated Kasem.
