New Tunes & A Tour From Justin Townes Earle

Just in time for Father’s Day, Justin Townes Earle has announced a title and release date for his new studio album – Single Mothers. The singer/songwriter will be supporting his fifth LP with a North American outing that includes new September and October headline dates.

Single Mothers is due out Sept. 9 as Earle’s first album on Vagrant Records. A post on his website, which notes that JTE “writes from a point of maturity and content we’ve not seen before on past records,” describes the collection of ten tracks as “an album that’s raw, honest and personal in a way he hasn’t touched upon since his debut EP, Yuma.”

The album’s title is apparently a nod to his own upbringing. Although he’s known as the son of singer/songwriter/producer Steve Earle, JTE was raised by a single mother.

JTE has found a new sense of clarity, which can be attributed to his recent marriage and sobriety.

“One day I just realized it’s not cool to die young, and it’s even less cool to die after 30,” Earle said.
