It came right up to scratch by attracting its usual 50,000-plus per day, but Ewald Tatar – head of Austria’s Nova Rock Festival – reckons the 10th anniversary was the best his firm’s ever staged.

For the last eight of those 10 years, the festival near the Hungarian border at Nickelsdorf has always done at least 50,000 per day, consistently doing better than 90 percent business.
“Like the years before there were around 150,000 over three days, but this year there was perfect weather, perfect shows and a very peaceful and great audience,” Tatar told Pollstar.
It was a busy few days for Tatar as no sooner had Nova Rock closed he was off to Vienna, where he was local promoter for AEG’s Rolling Stones show at Ernst Happel Stadium June 16, which shifted another 55,000 tickets.
The acts enjoying the perfect weather at Nova Rock June 13-15 included Iron Maiden, The Prodigy, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Rob Zombie, and In Flames.
