Ailing: Jeff Beck & Steven Wright
The second portion of Jeff Beck’s European excursion was supposed to kick off in Austria Friday. That gig has been canceled, along with appearances in Italy, Germany and France.
An announcement on his website says, “Following many months of international touring and after seeking emergency medical attention, Jeff will now undertake a short hospital procedure and his doctors have instructed a complete break from performance for a total of six weeks. … He sends his profound apologies to those fans who had bought tickets for the European concerts and very much looks forward to playing for his American audiences after he has completed his treatment.”
The guitarist is set to back on the road in August for a U.S. trek with ZZ Top. The first stop is Aug. 8 in Missoula, Mont., at the Ogren Park at Allegiance Field.
It’s not a laughing matter but Steven Wright can’t tell jokes with an injured foot. Not very many details have been released so we can’t tell you which foot was hurt or how the comedian got into the predicament.
Wright’s Facebook page simply says, “Very sorry for the inconvenience but I need to reschedule my shows @Wellmont & Paramount.” Links to the venues’ Facebook pages led to statements saying this week’s shows were being pushed back to September “due to an injured foot.”
His June 26 gig at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, N.J., will now take place Sept. 26. Tonight’s show in Huntington, N.Y., at The Paramount has been postponed to Sept. 27. Tickets will be honored for the new dates. Fans who can’t make the rescheduled shows can request refunds via their point of purchase.
