An uncompleted arena in Kimball Township, Mich., will be razed soon. Yes, that's the “bowl” of the arena, now a man-made lake.

Owner Mostafa Afr had dreams of building a $56 million arena and sports complex and kicked off construction in 1999. But financial troubles halted the project and developer Tony DeFeo stepped in, according to the Times Herald, before vanishing years later along with millions of dollars from investors.

Kimball Township Supervisor Rob Usakowski told the paper crews wasted no time razing the building after Afr recently agreed to demolition of the site.

“I’m glad that it’s finally taking place,” he said. “It’s been an eyesore in Kimball Township for a long time.” He added Afr is footing the bill for the demolition and plans to sell the land.
