More Positivus Growth
The observation that it’s the only festival in the Baltic region doesn’t really do justice to Girts Majors and his team, who’ve succeeded in building a festival in a territory where many others have failed. Most of the local startup festivals have lasted a year – or even two – but Positivus is now in its eighth year and doing more than 30,000 people per day.
The festival has also grown each year that it’s been staged since starting out with 3,000 per day in 2007.
This year the first and third days did over 30,000, while the Saturday – which had Kraftwerk and Ellie Goulding – sold out its 35,000 capacity.
That’s about five times the population of the nearby seaside town of Salacgriva, where the River Salaca flows into the Baltic Sea at the Gulf Of Riga, one of the country’s most beautiful locations.
The other acts helping create a landmark event in the Baltics July 18-20 included Bastille, Elbow, Laura Mvula, Tricky, MØ, The 1975, and Anna Calvi.
