Ailing: Rascal Flatts & Paramore

Paramore called off two Texas shows this week because frontwoman Hayley Williams is suffering from a chest infection and exhaustion. Meanwhile, Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox isn’t feeling so hot either, which means the band has canceled three gigs.

Williams wrote fans a letter about the canceled dates, which were supposed to be co-headline shows with Fall Out Boy – Monday in Corpus Christi and Tuesday in Dallas. Fall Out Boy still took the stage both nights and treated fans to extra songs.

“Words in this tiny little message cannot begin to express my frustration, sadness, and overall loopiness (the latter is likely just from the cortisone and antibiotics…ugh.),” Williams wrote.

“Corpus Christi, you’ve been on my mind since I woke up this afternoon and Dallas, you’ll be on my mind the rest of the night. I absolutely hate canceling anything. Admitting defeat is a tough thing for this gal.

“Anyway. Thanks for understanding as much as you can. Of course any frustration on your part is totally understandable. I’m thankful for all the get well soon’s and all the love I’ve seen online. Big special thanks for FOB camp as well for helping by extending their set last night. We absolutely love being out here with those guys and their crew.”

The singer said the rest of the tour is still on and her doctor thinks she’ll “certainly” be well enough to perform by the next show, which is slotted Aug. 7 in Albuquerque, N.M., at Isleta Amphitheatre.

Rascal Flatts is taking the rest of the week off to give Gary LeVox’s voice a chance to heal.

The canceled dates are Aug. 7 in Nampa, Idaho, at the Idaho Center Amphitheatre; Aug. 8 in Airway Heights, Wash., at Northern Quest Casino & Resort; and Aug. 9 in Mission, British Columbia, at the Mission Raceway as part of the “Rockin’ River Music Fest.”

Bassist Jay DeMarcus helped out his buddy by releasing the official band statement.

“It is incredibly difficult to make the decision to cancel shows and disappoint our loyal fans who have been so good to us over the year. The schedule of shows this past weekend, coupled with media days in New York City, have left him without a voice. We promise to return as soon as we can and give our fans the best show possible!”

Rascal Flatts is due back on the road Aug. 15 in Phoenix, Ariz., at the Ak-Chin Pavilion.
