Maddah Attacks Adelaide Council

Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah lashed out at Adelaide City Council after its call for public consultation over the Australian hard rock festival’s application to return to Bonython Park Feb. 21-22.

Maddah told his 41,000 Twitter followers Council was trying to “get rid” of Soundwave, which draws 40,000 to Adelaide.

Adelaide City responded that public consultations are standard requirement for all music and sports events, and did the same for Soundwave applications in 2013 and 2014.

Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood emphasized he wanted Soundwave back, being an “old school Metallica fan.”

Soundwave forfeited its A$10,000 ($9,320) bond this March after it exceeded the decibel limit for more than 70 percent of the duration. Maddah has pulled Soundwave out of its Perth stop after bureaucratic resistance following noise issues.
