They will be her only two Japan concerts on her upcoming Asian tour, which will also take in Manila, Singapore and Chongquing, China.

However, Taipei will not be on the itinerary, according to the China Post, because of Celine Dion. The paper quotes Yu Kuang Music, an organization that was reportedly trying to arrange a Carey concert in Taiwan, as saying, “After great efforts to work and negotiate with other parties, we are sorry to announce that we did not get ‘s approval but are first on the waiting list.”

Apparently the two singers’ respective tour teams were competing for the venue during the Oct. 27-30 period, and Dion, who will be making her first-ever appearance in Taiwan, won out.

A representative of Yu Kuang speculated that the arena chose Dion over Carey because “the Canadian singer will be able to give two concerts as opposed to Carey’s one.” However, on Aug. 13 it was announced that Dion was canceling her whole tour citing health issues.

Carey has performed in Taiwan once, in 1998 as part of the Butterfly World Tour.
