Stereosonic Pacts
5-Year Deal With Viagogo

Major Australian EDM festival Stereosonic signed a five-year deal with online ticket resale platform Viagogo.

The Swiss-based company launched operations downunder in 2013 and was accused by some sectors of condoning ticket scalping.

But Stereosonic’s John Curtin defended the team-up, saying that Viagogo was chosen from a number of services because it offers “the best in category, world-class ticketing service.”

He added, “Viagogo is also providing us with a unique platform to help us reach the global electronic music fan base and expand Stereosonic’s footprint across the world.”

According to Viagogo’s Alex Levenson, there’s a 98 percent rise in interest from overseas EDM fans wanting to travel to Australia because the bill includes heavyweights including Calvin HarrisTiestoDiploDisclosure and Skrillex.

The biggest interest comes from Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the U.S. and Singapore. Levenson reported “47 percent more demand coming from Australian fans compared to last year.” Stereosonic, bought by SFX last year, plays five cities in November and December to a total of 360,000 people.
