Centerplate CEO Busted For Kicking Puppy

A security camera in Vancouver, British Columbia, captured a man with a dog on a leash, yanking the leash and kicking the Doberman pinscher puppy.

The media identified the man as Centerplate’s Des Hague, according to the Greenville News newspaper.

Centerplate provides concessions to Greenville, S.C.’s Bon Secours Wellness Center and was its longtime facility manager. The company was formally named Volume Services. Centerplate manages and/or provides concessions to arenas and stadiums throughout North America.

One client is Levi’s Stadium, the new home of the San Francisco 49ers, where Centerplate is a vendor.

An outcry from fans prompted the team to issue a statement.

“[The organization] condemns the abuse of animals and was disturbed to learn of the recent news regarding Des Hague. We believe his actions are not reflective of the efforts and service provided by the hundreds of Centerplate employees working to present our fans with a tremendous experience at Levi’s Stadium.”

The Centerplate board announced it had put Hague on probation after a review and required he dontate $100,000 to an animal protection foundation in Vancouver, according to Greenville News.

The foundation will be called the Sade Foundation in honor of the dog that was kicked.

The board has also required Hague give 1,000 hours of community service to an organization that protects the welfare and safety of animals.
