Winans Drops Suit

Gospel singer Vickie Winans says she has dropped her lawsuit against a Atlanta Gospel Fest and owner Riki Brooks, whom she’d accused of breach of contract when she wasn’t paid for an appearance at what she thought was a benefit concert.

“The step I’m taking is one of compassion and grace, not that they are innocent, but because I might need this same gesture given to me one day,” Winans told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I extend forgiveness and mercy, and the case has been dropped.”

Winans sought at least $75,000 in damages and other costs. Winans was to appear at the two-day annual Atlanta Gospel Fest Aug. 1-2.
