The festival, started a decade ago by Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio in Melbourne’s laneways, kicks off in Singapore for its fifth year there Jan. 24 at Gardens By The Bay.

It moves on to New Zealand’s Auckland Silo Park Jan. 26 and then to Australia for five dates: Brisbane Showgrounds Jan. 31, Sydney College of the Arts Feb. 1, the historic Harts Mill in Port Adelaide Feb. 6, Footscray Community Arts Centre & River’s Edge in Melbourne Feb. 7 and the Esplanade Reserve & West End in Fremantle Feb. 8.

Acts will be announced Oct. 2.

Laneway made its North American debut in 2013 in Detroit with acts including The NationalChvrchesChet FakerIcona PopSolangeWarpaint and Sigur Ros.

A return was postponed until 2015 with organisers citing unavailability of strong acts. Rogers is adamant they want to return to Detroit.

“We felt like we could make a difference there,” he said. “As soon as we landed there, we fell in love with the people and their support for Laneway.”
