Why Raggamuffin Moved
Promoter Andrew McManus says he was forced to move Raggamuffin festival from regional Rotorua, New Zealand, to Auckland because it was not sustainable.
He told the Sunday Star Times the event suffered a 15 percent drop in sales over the past two years despite acts including Shaggy, Sean Paul and Ziggy Marley.
McManus broke a five-year contract that had one year to go with Rotorua District Council, and outstanding payments of NZ$132,000 ($102,550).
This year’s event features UB40, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill and Chronixx, along with New Zealand’s Che Fu, House of Shem, Katchafire and P Money.
