Rosanne Cash To Win Smithsonian ‘Ingenuity Award’

Singer Rosanne Cash will soon receive a special award from the Smithsonian for her innovation through the performing arts.

Smithsonian magazine announced Wednesday that Cash will be among the winners of this year’s American Ingenuity Awards. The full list of winners will be announced in a ceremony Oct. 16 at the National Portrait Gallery.

NPR host Michel Martin will host this year’s awards. Presenters will include “House of Cards” creator Beau Willimon, venture capitalist and AOL co-founder Steve Case, scientist Stephen Hawking and novelist George Pelecanos, who was a producer on HBO’s “The Wire” and “Treme.”

Past honorees have included Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors, multimedia artist Doug Aitken, writer Dave Eggers and Jack Andraka, the 15-year-old who created a new test for detecting pancreatic cancer.
