Portland Fest?

Portland, Maine, could be the site of a new festival next summer if the city approves closing off part of the Eastern Promenade for an August event.

Townsquare Media Portland, which owns 15 radio stations in Maine, said it expects the fest could draw up to 8,000 people, according to the Portland Press Herald.

The broadcaster’s plan for the site reportedly includes fencing two-thirds of a hillside area, gating the area the Thursday prior to the Saturday concert and clearing the area by the Monday following the show.

Artists are expected to be selected following an approval by the city.
