Soundwave Subsidizes Flights

The hard rock Soundwave festival struck a deal with Virgin Australia airlines to provide cheap fares for patrons journeying from outside its four shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

A widget is built into the festival’s website for customers to apply. Festival director AJ Maddah said he initially thought of the deal only for those from the West Coast city of Perth – dropped as a destination for 2015 following council problems and low ticket sales this year.

“Unlike some promoters who do deals with airlines where they get a cut of the sales, Soundwave is in fact subsidizing these cheap fares,” he told one outlet.
