Texas voters overwhelming approve funding Nov. 2 for the Fort Worth Arena, shown in an artist rendering. It’s expected to be completed by 2019.

Half of the project is to be funded by Event Facilities Fort Worth, a nonprofit led by billionaire Ed Bass, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

An additional $225 million for construction is to come from facility use taxes and a parking tax that may be assessed after the arena opens, according to the paper. Bass said the ballot victory “sets up the state for very strong support from the private sector on the funding,” according to the Forth Worth Star-Telegram.

When completed, the arena will accommodate configurations from 9,300 to 14,000 seats, depending on the event.

Concerts are to seat 12,500-14,000, with sports events somewhat lower. Officials hope to finish the arena by 2019, according to the Star-Telegram.
