Industry Noize: Gorge Working To Keep Peace
County commissioners approved a zoning change request from Live Nation earlier this year that would allow the company to add up to 1,000 camping spaces, recreational improvements and a café and bar to the site, despite plenty of complaints from the community. But it appears the venue is committed to keeping the peace with its neighbors.
During a recent meeting with commissioners, Gorge officials said they would first focus on studying traffic issues, fixing septic problems and building a security fence to soothe concerns before the expansion gets under way, according to the Columbia Basin Herald.
One commissioner noted during the session that while fewer concertgoers were hospitalized in 2014, she received more complaints about the venue than in the past four years combined.
The Quincy Valley Medical Center, which sought money from Live Nation earlier this year to help cover debts incurred from treating Gorge patrons who don’t pay up, asked for better communication from Live Nation during the 2015 season. However officials also conceded there was less chaos in the emergency room during 2014, the paper said.
