All Go For Green Events
It’s the fifth time the German greens have run the event.
“It’s great to see where we are after five years. And it’s good to see that there are more and more people interested in the topic, seeing the urge for greener and more sustainable events all around Europe,” said conference co-founder Holger Jan Schmidt.
The delegates and speakers at this year’s Green Events Conference were first treated to an opening speech from Bonn Mayor Jürgen Nimptsch, who paid tribute to the event’s five-year history and keynote speaker Valentin Thurn. Documentary filmmaker Thurn is best-known for “Taste The Waste,” a visual description of how half of the food that’s grown never makes it to the dining room table.
The 15 discussion sessions included contributions from European Talent Exchange chief Ruud Berends, Claire O‘Neill from the UK’s A Greener Festival, Sabine Funk from Green Events Europe, Glastonbury lawyer Ben Challis, and Teresa Moore from the UK’s Bucks New University. The festivals represented included Germany’s Tollwood, Hurricane, Das Fest and Berlin, as well as Roskilde (Denmark), Exit (Serbia), Pukkelpop (Belgium) and Pinkpop (The Netherlands).
