Literally Can’t Take Redfoo

A satire on frat house culture by LMFAO‘s Redfoo on his new single “Literally I Can’t” and accompanying video caused an outcry in Australia, where he is a judge on “X Factor Australia.”

The track is a collaboration with Lil Jon, Play-N-Skillz and Enertia McFly. Anger over lines including “But you annoying me ’cause you’re talkin’” and “Work it, twerk it and maybe I’ll tweet about it” led to almost 22,000 signing a petition to get him sacked from the show.

Some media outlets refuse to feature any more of his music. Redfoo, son of Motown founder Berry Gordy, tweeted, “Another example of critics victimizing an artist by purposefully misinterpreting his/her work to support a pre-existing agenda.”

He added he “respects women” and believes they “are the most powerful people on this planet.” He has publically apologized and the video now includes a disclaimer that it is “an art piece” and “no way to be interpreted as misogynistic or negative towards any groups of people.”
