KISS AFL Partner Sued

A man who helped sell members of KISS and manager Doc McGhee on the idea of arena football is facing a lawsuit in Florida that claims he mismanaged and diverted funds from the team he previously owned.

Brett Bouchy, former co-owner of the Orlando Predators, apparently reached out to McGhee last year to gauge his interest in joining an ownership group for an AFL expansion team in Nashville. But when Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley also expressed interest in the venture,

Bouchy set his sights on a team in Los Angeles instead. Enter the LA Kiss, which played its first season this year in Anaheim’s Honda Center.

Bouchy’s former business partner, David Pearsall, now alleges Bouchy failed to disclose at least $450,000 in debts the when he sold off his majority share in the Predators, according to the OC Register.

Pearsall contends Bouchy regularly took a split of proceeds from scalped tickets to Predators games, which drained funds from the team’s coffers.

The suit also says Bouchy promised Pearsall he could recoup at least $500,000 by hosting a KISS concert and the 2013 Arena Bowl, but the events barely made $200,000 before expenses.

Bouchy responded to the paper that Pearsall was kicked out the league earlier this year for failing to meet team obligations. “I am confident that I will be vindicated in any suit brought by Mr. Pearsall,” he said.
