Drug Busts At Aus. Fests
Police drug detection squads at Sydney’s Field Day and Melbourne’s Above & Beyond festivals – both staged on New Year’s Day – had their share of arrests.
More than 200 of the 25,000 fans at Field Day will face court. Described it as “extremely concerning” by police, this marked a 50 percent rise in arrests from last year.
In addition, a further 90 were removed on charges of alcohol intoxication or fence jumping. Sniffer dogs at the Melbourne event at Myer Music Bowl snared 40 people aged between 22 and 25. Most were referred to a drug diversion program.
