The UK weekend paper reckons Live Nation Entertainment, IMG and AEG Live are likely to be among the bidders. The Canadian acrobatics circus is said to need new money after suffering from falling profits.
Cirque founder Guy Laliberté is reportedly looking to let go of 30 percent of the world’s largest theatrical producer, which would value the company at around $2.5 billion. Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984 by Laliberté and fellow street performer Gilles Ste-Croix, helped by a government grant from the Canada Council for the Arts.
Its most successful touring shows include Le Grand Tour du Cirque du Soleil, La Magie Continue, Saltimbanco, Kooza, La Nouba, and Alegria.
