Goo Goo Dolls To Perform At Buffalo Lounge Singer’s Memorial
Members of the Goo Goo Dolls will perform at a musical memorial tribute for a beloved Buffalo lounge singer who had entertained western New York audiences since the 1970s.
Tribute organizer Van Taylor says bassist and vocalist Robby Takac and guitarist John Rzeznik will be among the performers honoring local R&B legend Lance Diamond at his memorial Friday night at Kleinhans Music Hall.
Diamond died at a Buffalo hospital last Sunday, four days after heart problems forced him to cancel his New Year’s Eve show at the Buffalo lounge where he had performed for about 40 years.

Takac says he met Diamond in 1986, the same year the Goo Goo Dolls were formed in Buffalo. Diamond, known for his signature broad-brimmed hats and colorful sequined suits, later recorded with the band and performed with them at concerts in Buffalo.
