Gleneagles Not Bothered About TITP

Stories saying the world-famous Gleneagles Hotel has objected to Scottish festival T In The-Park taking place 3 miles away appear to be the result of a misunderstanding.

Although it’s said the festival could be heard at Gleneagles when it was happening 12 miles away at its previous location at Balado, the hotel has confirmed it hasn’t lodged a formal objection to the event.

A BBC News story saying the hotel was objecting came after it wrote to the council identifying areas for concern, which it needed to do if it wanted them to be considered during the planning of the event. Mistakenly, the letter was uploaded to the council website as an objection to T In The Park, and remained there for a whole day until the mistake was spotted.

“Thanks everyone for your comments – we appreciate this is something that people have strong feelings about,” explained a spokesman for the hotel, which hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup golf tournament. The follow-up news stories have made it clear that Gleneagles is in regular contact with festival promoter DF Concerts and it’s happy that the festival “will not impact on the day to day running of the hotel.”

The plans for T In The Park are being considered by Perth and Kinross Council. A formal objection lodged by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has been withdrawn.
