A Squeaky Clean Future

Singapore is noted for its exacting rules on cleanliness, and Livescape Group presenting the Future Music Festival Asia for the first time in Singapore next week has pledged to keep the hosting Changi Exhibition Center spic-and-span.

Group CEO Muhammad Iqbal told Yahoo Entertainment that his organization had a “waste management system” in place because they needed one to gain permission to use a stadium in Malaysia, where last year’s festival happened.

Earlier this year, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien sparked debate after posting photos of trash on the grounds of the Laneway Festival, which took place in January. Iqbal said it won’t be a problem.

“I don’t have actual numbers with me,” he told Yahoo, “but you can expect at least 100 sets of colorful recycling bins places across the venue. We have a trash compactor ready and about 100 cleaners to keep the venue clean. They will be sweeping the venue in zones … and come back in the morning [after the event] to sweep again.”
