Rodeo Suit Settled
Yvonne “Bonnie” Herndon, a longtime rodeo volunteer, was ejected from the vehicle when the driver made a sharp turn. She has remained unconscious since the accident.
According to court documents obtained by the Houston Chronicle, the Herndon family will received an undisclosed sum from E-Z-GO Augusta, which converted the cart to increase its seating capacity from two to six. The suit alleged negligence on the part of the rodeo and its driver, and claimed the cart lacked “handhold restraints … that passengers could use to avoid being ejected from the vehicle while it was moving.”
The family settled with the rodeo in November, the Chronicle noted. An attorney for the woman told the paper the cost of lifelong care for her is estimated to be in “the millions of dollars.”
