KISS-aoke?

KISS released a new single in Japan called “Samurai Son” in advance of its Japan tour that includes the input of top female idol group Momoiro Clover Z. Naturally, the group performed the song during live sets, which caused consternation in in the offices of Blabbermouth.

The online hard rock magazine heard that KISS would include backing tracks when the song is performed and dug up a quote by Gene Simmons from 2012 when KISS was about to go on tour with Motley Crue.

At the time the group’s leader stated, “We’re sick and tired of girls getting up there with dancers and karaoke tapes in back of them. The guys you see on stage are playing their instruments. No fake bullshit. Leave that to Rihanna, Shimanna and anyone who ends their name with an ‘a’.”

In seeming response to this “controversy,” the group’s official Twitter account tweeted, “Recorded Samurai Son for Japan. To reproduce production here, we play live with extra tracks. Nothing to hide.”
