O2’s 15 Million Tickets

Having sold more tickets than any other of the world’s arenas for the last eight years, London’s  arena has announced it’s just shifted its 15 millionth ticket.

fan, who bought it for the singer’s performance at the 20,000 or so capacity venue in May. Last year about 88 percent of the 2,068,200 tickets sold were for music shows, although one of the main attractions with 416,858 visitors was for the ATP World Tour Finals.

More than 9 million people visited the venue in 2014. With that number coming through the doors of what was originally the Millennium Dome, the food and beverage outlets were bound to be busy.

London Mayor Boris Johnson called the arena’s achievement “fantastic” and says London is the entertainment capital of the world. Research conducted by Media Insight Consulting revealed that 30 percent of the UK population has attended The O2 at least once since the building opened. That figure rises to 40 percent for 25- to 34-year-olds.

O2 arena general manager Rebecca Kane Burton described the sale of the 15 millionth ticket as “a remarkable achievement” that demonstrates just how popular the venue has become.
