Slipknot Guitarist Suffers ‘Serious’ Wounds In Knife Fight

Slipknot’s Mick Thomson was hospitalized Wednesday after taking part in a knife fight with his brother. The 41-year-old guitarist was reportedly severely injured, including a stab wound in the back of his head.

Andrew John Thomson, 35, was also hospitalized. The brothers’ injuries were described as “serious but not life-threatening stab wounds,” according to the Des Moines Register, which notes that the siblings were taken to the hospital in separate ambulances.

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor checked in with fans on Twitter Wednesday, tweeting, “Mick Update: from what I’ve heard he’s okay. We’re sending him all your thoughts. Thank you for that,”

Des Moines TV station KCCI says the fight took place early Wednesday morning at the Clive, Iowa, home of the guitarist. Police arrived at the scene after a caller reported that the siblings were fighting with knives in the front yard. The altercation apparently began inside the house. KCCI points out that officers said the brothers “appeared to be intoxicated.”

No charges had been filed at the time of KCCI’s report, although the TV station adds that the investigation continues. Des Moines Register took a look at Iowa criminal records and found that Andrew was arrested in 2012 for public intoxication in Polk County. Mick (whose legal name is Mickael) had a clean record.

Slipknot’s next scheduled show is an April 25 appearance at “Monster Energy Fort Rock” in Fort Myers, Fla., at JetBlue Park. Mick’s injuries aren’t expected to affect the tour.
