John Fogerty Announces More ‘1969’ Dates
The “1969” tour, and its setlist, is based on an extremely prolific year for Fogerty and his former band. After releasing its self-titled debut in 1968, Creedence Clearwater Revival put out Bayou Country, Green River, and Willy and the Poor Boys in 1969. The LPs are packed with hits including “Proud Mary,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Green River,” “Down on the Corner,” and “Fortunate Son.”
The excursion begins with a May 2 appearance at Memphis’ Beale Street Music Festival and runs through early August. A few months later Fogerty will release “Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music.” The autobiography is due out Oct. 6 from Little, Brown and Company.
“I’m excited to share my story and my life with you,” Fogerty said. “You’re going to hear where it all started, my passion to become the best musician I could be. You’ll travel down some rough roads, but that road leads to something beautiful. My book won’t be sugar coated! It’s all in there.”
Readers will be taken on a journey that covers Fogerty’s rise to the top of the charts with Creedence and the band’s breakup just a few years later, as well as the singer/songwriter’s retreat from music and his revival as a solo artist. Fogerty will also share how he “finally, through it all, found love.”
