Aussie Venue Slammed Over New Name

Owners of a rebranded Adelaide nightclub said they were “shocked” at the backlash against its new name, Go Go Lady Boy.

They were accused of being “transphobic,” “racist” and “offensive.” The club, previously Tijuana Showgirls, reopened with the new name March 19 after a six-month renovation.

Alexander Kleut, an owner and manager of the club, said they were inspired by a visit to experience Thailand’s party culture. “It seemed a strong theatrical name, which appealed to us. We were shocked it caused an upset in Adelaide.”

The club is based in the Hindley Street entertainment strip.
