Lawson, a singer-songwriter from Plymouth who had a No. 1 single in Ireland with “Wasn’t Expecting That,” opened for Sheeran’s sold-out March Australian tour.
The visit, through Frontier Touring, was Sheeran’s fourth visit in as many years. He explained, “Australia is a country that I feel would really dig Jamie. I’ve known Jamie for about five or six years. He’s just a phenomenal talent.”
Sheeran will sign acts that come to his attention on his world tours.
During his Australian visit, he did a cameo on the sitcom “Home & Away” and arrived unexpectedly at a Sydney wedding to sing “Think Out Aloud” as the shell-shocked couple did their bridal waltz.
