A 21-year-old told police he ran into DMX and his posse at an Exxon station along Route 21 a little after midnight. The man claimed he recognized the hip-hop star, approached DMX and had a brief conversation with him about rap music.

That’s when a male in DMX’s entourage allegedly presented a gun and demanded money. The man pulled $3,200 out of his pocket and DMX “snatched the money out of his hand” before jumping into one of four black Cadillac Escalades that left the scene, a police spokesman told the New Jersey Star-Ledger.

The man claims he followed the caravan down the highway and gave one of the license numbers to the police. A police investigation is under way.
