Young People Attend Festivals

Nielsen Entertainment recently released its Audience Insights Report on Music Festivals, offering its statistics on who attends festivals and how many they attend.

According to Nielsen, 32 million people attend at least one music festival in the U.S. each year, and 46 percent are aged 18-34.

Attendees are evenly split between men and women, and festivals are more popular among Hispanics and African-Americans than they are with the general population.

On average, fans travel a whopping 903 miles to attend a festival. One-third of festival fans attend more than one fest a year, spending an average of $207 on live events, digital music and streaming.
